Zacchaeus Sunday is the first announcement to begin to PREPARE for the Great Fast! Father's words reminded us that the Church does not 'throw us into' the Great Fast. But, in her wisdom, she PREPARES us to start the Fast in a positive mindset in order to have a fruitful Fast so that we may celebrate a New Life at the Great and Holy Pascha!! We also keep in mind the Meeting of Our Lord in the Temple by Simeon, which was joyously celebrated the past week.
